In Christ's prayer of John 17, we come to the antitype of the altar of incense in the tabernacle. Christ and his effectual intercession for his people was pictured in the sweet aroma of the incense burned in the Holy Place and which surrounded the High Priest when he entered the Holy of Holies on the Day of Atonement. Immersed in the sweet aroma of our great High Priest, we participate in Christ's intercession as we pray for one another.
